KPP Architecture was founded in 2018 as a collaboration between the partners of two established architecture firms who share a mutual respect and admiration for each other’s work and a desire to be involved in significant public projects. By combining their teams and professional expertise, KPP Architecture is well suited to tackle a wide range of civic and cultural projects.

KPP (Karahan PACS Partnership) is led by its three founding partners.

Beyhan Karahan, AIA LEED AP is the principal of Beyhan Karahan & Associates Architects (BKAA). Over the last three decades, BKAA completed numerous public and private projects, received recognition and awards for the quality of their design and historic preservation work.

Paul Capece, AIA and Alex Shkreli, AIA are the founding partners of PACS Architecture (PACS). Since the firm’s inception in 2011, Paul and Alex have executed hundreds of projects ranging from custom interiors to large ground-up developments, and everything in between. Prior to forming PACS, Paul and Alex, both students of Beyhan at NYIT and BKAA alumni, managed a wide range of projects for another esteemed New York City based architecture firm involving complex programming, phasing, and sustainable design components, including multiple LEED Platinum rated projects.

We believe that our history of working together for several decades, our love of architecture and profound interest in the quality of the public realm may prove to be an invaluable asset for any potential projects we will undertake in the future.

Beyhan Karahan, AIA, LEED AP

Practicing and teaching architecture in NYC since 1983, Beyhan Karahan designed and restored many significant buildings and interiors. Winner of the Art Commission of New York Special Recognition Award for her design of the prototype that resulted in 13 buildings for the FDNY and NYS AIA Award for Residential Architecture and Excellence in Historic Preservation Award from the Preservation league of NYS, she continues her commitment to sustainable architecture and urban design through her buildings and research projects with the students of NY Institute of Technology School of Architecture and Design.

…”I believe that our natural environment is the best guide from which to begin the design process. Our buildings need to respond to the very life that is contained within. Images may offer a glimpse of our aesthetic sensibilities but they can only represent a fragment of the thought process that goes into the creation of architectural space. The use of appropriate materials and details require thoughtful research into the construction techniques of the past and the science of the 21st Century.”

Paul Capece, AIA

A co-founder of PACS Architecture, Paul Capece has spent the past fifteen years practicing architecture with over a decade of experience managing design and construction on a wide range of project types. His completed projects range in scope from new civic buildings, to multi-family condominium developments, to single-family residences. A balance of contemporary expression and contextual relevance is key to his design philosophy. Many of Paul’s projects have involved complex programming, phasing, and green design components, including the LEED Platinum-rated Queens Botanical Garden Visitor & Administration Center, which he managed throughout construction as the project architect for BKSK Architects. This project is particularly of note as it won several design awards including the AIA NY “Best in New York State” Award of Excellence for 2008. Additionally, Paul spearheads business development for the firm.

Alex Shkreli, AIA

Prior to co-founding PACS Architecture in 2011, Alex Shkreli headed his own firm, Alex Shkreli Architect, where he designed and managed the construction of a number of luxury residential and commercial projects. Between 2000 and 2005, Alex worked at BKSK Architects, where he managed several traditional and transitional high-end residential projects in addition to a number of award-wining restorations of historic buildings. During this period, he gained hands-on experience and a broad knowledge of building and zoning codes. Later, as a project manager for Francois de Menil Architects, he oversaw the development of a series of modern single-family residential projects and developments in both New York City and Houston, TX. Through his work over the last fifteen years, Alex has developed a distinctive modern aesthetic and a passion for finding the best possible solution to every design problem.
