The Solstice Loft

The Solstice Loft

This loft occupies one floor of a historic cast-iron building in Soho, NYC. Exposing the 1873 brick load bearing walls, heavy timber beams and columns designed by Edward H. Kendall, the interior space was returned to its original character. Before the arrival of its current occupants, the building served many other uses like the offices of the City Record, and a paper warehouse.

Anticipating the passage of good times for at least for another century to come, special boxes were located on the floor. Their location marks the path of the sun and announce the exact time of arrival for Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring solstices.
